The financial technology (Fintech) company, Wave Côte d'Ivoire, conducted a community-based initiative on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the "Forum" market in Adjamé, targeting merchants and traders. According to the company's CEO, Katier Bamba, the purpose of the activity was to demonstrate the security of merchant payments.

After Adjamé, this community-based program will expand to other communes in Abidjan and throughout the country. « The goal is to get people accustomed to paying digitally », noted Katier Bamba, who shared that by the end of 2024, his company had enrolled 300,000 merchants who now accept online payments.

According to the manager, responding to the government's call, his company has committed to financial inclusion, which it practices on a daily basis. « For us, financial inclusion is a reality. When we open 21 million accounts, it means there are 21 million accounts where transactions can take place. It means we’ve allowed millions of people to move their money from under their mattresses to mobile money accounts », he explained.
